Aqsunqur Mosque

The Aqsunqur mosque, also called the Blue Mosque near Bab Zuweila, is a combination of a thriving Sahn for prayer and a shrine, derived from Prince Aqsunqur, built in 1348. He then became one of the most wonderful mosques of the Mamluk era, highlighting the exquisite Mamluk design, and derived the name of the blue mosque from the blue tiles on the Qiblah wall of the mosque.
