The purpose of the construction of Salah al-Din Castle is to protect Cairo from enemies and to rule Egypt. It is also regarded as the seat of the ruler of the King of Salah al-Din and his Government in Egypt. It is therefore regarded as the main headquarters for many years and centuries during the era of the Ayyubid, Mamluk and Ottoman dynasties.
