Kalabsha Temple

Enjoy a spectacular tour and discover the Kalabsha Temple near Lake Nasser, near the western end of the Aswan High Dam, dating back to Ptolemaic times, during the reign of the Ptolemy IX and was reconstructed in the time of the Roman Emperor Augustus, later built by other emperors such as Trajan. It was intended for the Nubian god Mandulis.

With the construction of the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s, the temple, which was originally located 50 kilometers south of Aswan, became threatened with drowning under the high waters of the dam Lake Nasser, so the temple was dismantled and rebuilt at its current location in New Kalabsha.

The temple is a classic style that dates back to the Ptolemaic era, has Pylon , a courtyard, a Hypostyle hall and a three inner chambers, and has a large Pylon connected to the rest of the complex by a wall, creating a closed space.

There are stairs leading to the roof, providing a great view of the lake and high dam.
