LUXOR MUSEUM
Visiting Luxor Museum considered to be a must if you are in Luxor city, the Museum has a verity of the antiquities from the Old Kingdom to the Mamluk period as Luxor is a rich city throughout history till now.
The Museum of Luxor is located in the middle of Luxor city; the museum was open by the Egyptian president Mohammed Anwar Al-Sadat in 1975.
From the first step in the museum you will feel the glory of the Egyptian Civilization, in the ancient times or even in modern time from the design to the displaying system and the most important the unique pieces you will find in every hall and corner in the museum. You will feel the authentic style of the new kingdom in the Statue of Tuthmose III and the aesthetic touch in the statue of king Amenhotep III and god Sobek protecting him with the scent of the Old Kingdom in the relief of Unas-ankh.
To fit the greatness of these royal mummies a new hall was opened specially in 2004 for both kings; Ahmose I, the founder of the great New Kingdom and the repellent of the Hyksos and the King Ramses I, the father of King Seti I and the grandfather of the great peaceful King Ramses II, the Mummies are shown in a special way in the darkness. You will also find the famous Talatat blocks of Akhenaten and to complete the greatness of the scene you will see some of the treasures from the tomb of The Young King Tutankhamen.
In your way to outside you will find a unique head of goddess Mehet-Weret one the many figures of goddess Hathor.
