Sehel Island

Find out more about Suhail Island, located 3.2 km south of Aswan, this Nubian island is known for its pharonic relics and there are many important people that came out from this island as well.

 The island is famous for many inscriptions, as the voyager in Ancient Egyptians times, soldiers, and the traders who were on their way to Nubia, or those who returned from the South trips, they left inscriptions that told of their pleas or prayers for thanks for help, all of which were dedicated to the goddess Anuket, who was known as the Nubia Lady and was the goddess of water or the cataract, and was worshipped in this area. 

You will also discover many precious things about Seheil Island with its Nubian culture; it has many holy monuments built by the ancient Egyptians, who were extracting the famous Aswan granite from the island. Moreover, you can visit traditional Nubian homes, see crocodiles, get henna tattoos from a local resident or ride camels.
