TEMPLE OF MENTUHOTEP
Aren’t you curious about the 3 stories design the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, what is the origin of the idea and from where it came; I guarantee that you don’t know. Menthuhotep II the founder of the Middle Kingdom and the unifier of Egypt after the first intermediate period was the owner of this idea 550 years before Hatshepsut and had his own temple already few steps away from the Queen’s Temple but unfortunately the temple is in ruins now.
The location of the Temple at Al-Deir Al-Bahary site makes it also so close to Valley of the Kings.
Although that the Temple of King Menthuhotep II is in ruins now but we still can see the base of the Temple which let us knows more about the design that the Queen get inspired from the former Temple. The Queen used the design with some modifications as we can see the size of her Temple is larger than the original one with the absence of the pyramidal shape.
