Tombs Of Nobles
With White Bird Travel, the Great Tombs of Nobles are located on the West Bank of Aswan, located just north of the Botanical Island, and shows us the history of Egypt from the 4th dynasty to the Roman period.
The tombs are consists of rock cut tombs that return back to the rulers and nobles of Aswan city, carved in the mountain dating back to the 23rd century BC.
Look at the wonderful painted wall in the Nobles Tombs, it shows the daily life of the Ancient Egyptians in a magical masterpiece of art, it is decorated with vibrant murals depicting scenes of everyday life, hieroglyphs and inscriptions depicting nobles’ travels to Africa.
They were explored by Lord Grenville between 1885 and 1886; among the most valuable are the graves of Harkhuf, Sarenput II, Sabni and Mekho.
The cemetery of Mekho features an image on the right wall of the cemetery, showing Prince Mekho wearing a skirt and accompanying his wife as the server brings him sacrifices to present them to the gods. While in Sabni cemetery, son of Mekho is in fact an extension of Father Mekho's cemetery, which is considered a large cemetery, compared to other Tombs.
Get the opportunity to see the tomb of Sarenput II which perhaps the most beautiful among the Tombs of Nobles in Aswan, Sarenput was a royal prince, the chief priest of the temples of the gods of Khnum and Satet and the commander of the Egyptian army during the reign of Amenemhet II. You will also discover the cemetery of Harkhuf, who was governor of the island region of Elephantine Island in that period.
