LUXOR TEMPLE
Try our tours to the Temple of Luxor a large temple located on the east bank of the Nile River, that it was built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II added a courtyard with a pylon and a colonnade, so many kings added in this temple as Hatshepsut and Thutmusis III, it was built in 1400 B.C. during the New Kingdom and known as ipet rsyt or the Southern Sanctuary (Harem) of Amun which was the end of the route of Amun in the Opet Festival. It is an ancient Egyptian celebration held annually, Alexander the Great also added a Barque shrine.
The Temple of Luxor was dedicated to Thebes Triad Amun Ra, Mut and Khonsu. The Temple was the place of the statue of goddess Mut in the Opet festival and the statue of Amun every year was making his way to Luxor Temple from Karnak Temples through the Sphinx Avenue to stay with his wife for a while. As soon as you entered the temple, you will find Ramses II and his courtyard, and there were two Obelisks in front of the pylon, one still in Luxor and the other transferred to Place de la Concorde Square in Paris in 1830s. It was given to France as a gift from the King Muhammad Ali, who ruled Egypt from 1805 to 1848, in reciprocation of the gift France gave him a beautiful French hour that had not yet worked.
